January 2025 Spotlight Athlete - Sandy

Sandy’s journey to Rail Stop Fitness is a testament to the power of encouragement and the drive to embrace change. It all started with her neighbor, Stella, a long-time member of Rail Stop Fitness, who invited her to try the Prime Strength & Conditioning class tailored for the 50+ age group. “The first class was tough and challenging, but it felt good to move my out-of-shape body,” Sandy recalls. With the coaching team’s support, she returned for another session and was hooked from then on—despite having a room full of exercise equipment at home!

Before joining the gym, Sandy’s lifestyle was far from active. After retiring, she envisioned dedicating her newfound free time to fitness. However, 4 years passed with no significant changes. “I was very sedentary—no energy, lethargic, overweight, tired. I’d lost muscle and strength after years of doing nothing,” Sandy shared. But once she committed to her new fitness routine, her life began to transform.

Sandy’s consistency speaks volumes. Initially attending three classes a week, she soon added a fourth, then a fifth. Now, she looks forward to her daily dose of exercise and movement. “Seeing and feeling all the improvements in my mind and body keeps me motivated,” she says. And the results have been remarkable: Sandy has lost over 30 pounds and experienced improvements in strength, cardio endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination, and energy levels. Her clothes fit better, her belly is trim, and she’s noticed a leaner physique overall.

When it comes to favorite movements, Sandy appreciates the variety each workout offers. “The coaches keep it fresh and challenging, starting with warm-ups, stretching, and core training, then moving into strength, cardio, and ending with a relaxing cool-down,” she explains.

What truly makes Rail Stop Fitness special for Sandy is the community. The Prime Strength & Conditioning class’ camaraderie is unmatched. “We don’t compete or judge each other—it’s you against you. Everyone offers support and encouragement,” she says. Coaches Donovan and Mel provide personalized training and keep the sessions fun!

Sandy’s advice to anyone hesitant about joining? “If you truly desire a lifestyle change, check out Rail Stop Fitness. The coaches guide you through tough yet invigorating classes. It might be hard at first, but if you keep pushing yourself, the rewards are endless!” Congratulations to Sandy for being our Spotlight Athlete and for inspiring us all with her incredible journey!
